Sorrento - Useful Transportation Information and Tourism Links

While staying in Sant'Agnello (Campania), we visited Sorrento regularly as it was a leisurely 15-2o minute walk (or Circumvesuvania train ride). We didn't really get to know the town of Sant'Agnello, which is a shame, because it just was a place to sleep. Normally, once we awoke, my sister and I would depart for our destination and would not return until sunset. Plus, there were more restaurants and the nightlife was "booming" (well, if you can say that) in Sorrento.

On our first real day, we walked to the Tourist Information office in Sorrento and picked up several maps and asked for restaurant recommendations. We also asked about how to arrive to Capri, the Amalfi Coast, Naples, and Pompeii. There you should find the following information:

Transportation (Trasporti)
Schedules vary during the seasons. During the summer the hydrofoils and ferries run with more frequency. It's best to pick up an "Azienda di Soggiorno" for Sorrento-Sant'Agnello from the Tourist Information office. You can also check with your hotelier, or call ahead. Even if you don't know Italian, get to know the basics: days of the week (Italians do not normally capitalize the days of the week, months, etc.)

The schedules should have a legend, as to the frequency of the transport. Here's one just in case:
Orario = Schedule
FR = Feriali = Workdays ONLY
FS = Festivo = Sundays and Bank Holidays ONLY
Si effettua dal lunedi' al venerdi' = Running from Monday to Friday ONLY
Per Capri = To Capri
Da Capri = From Capri
Tariffe = Cost/Fee (Tariff)
Solo Andata = One way
Di Andata e Ritorno = Round Trip
Giornaliero = Daily
Scolastico = School time ONLY
