Ciao amici!
My sister and I are in Perugia, Umbria - Home of Perugina Chocolate and many other famous collections d'arte. Sorry for any typos as I familiarize myself with the Italian keyboard.
Anyway, today we arrived from our week-long stay in Campania, home to the beautiful coast. While we stayed in Sant'Agnello, we rented an apt. - which wasn't all that, but decent for the price we paid. Anyway, it was conveniently located to the Circumvesuvania train station, which we took to nearby Sorrento (which could have been a leisurely 20 minute stroll or 15 minute quick run depending on the weather, as the first few days in rained!).
Since it rained the first few days of our stay, we revamped our itinerary and did not DO Capri and the Amalfi Coast until the end of our stay... which was fine.. it was just what was needed. The first full-day we were there, we walked around Sorrento (I will post photos later, so far we have 500)... it is known for its lemon groves and limoncello.
Our second day, we took the Circumvesuvania train (C train) to Pompeii, it would rain off and on, fortunately for us, it did not rain until we departed from the sightseeing. Even if you are not into ancient history, I would still recommend going to Pompeii, and the Museum that holds most of the sights recovered from Pompeii (and Herculaneum and other sights) in Naples... we went there too the next day.
We didn't do much in Naples other than check out Cappella San Severo and the Archaelogical Museum, I would consider that both are great sights! We just wandered the streets of Naples, until we caught the C train back to Sant'Agnello. The next day, we took the SITA bus around the Amalfi Coast: Positano and Amalfi. Positano was pretty dead, I am sure it picks up during the summer, but Amalfi was still alive, even though we got there during siesta time. But the view from both towns are spectacular, so is the drive... and the little towns in between: Praiano, Ravello... those are some places I would like to check out next time.
For now, we are in Umbria ... next to Tuscany and Le Marche, above Lazio (Roma).
Like I said, we will be here for about 4 nights, 5 days, before we make our way to Siena...
Catch you later,
Ciao e baci from Italia
